I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and I am an Independent Contractor with the Institute for Couple and Family Enhancement in San Antonio, Texas.
With over 15 years in the field of mental health, and earning a M.S. and Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy, I work with individuals, couples, and families to build on strengths and nurture grow their relationships. I have experience providing therapy services to adolescents, adults, couples, groups, and families in partial hospitalization, residential treatment centers, outpatient agency and university settings, and in private practice.
My primary therapeutic approaches are Solution Focused, Collaborative Language Systems, Gottman Method, and Cognitive-Behavioral—approaches that can serve clients in a respectful, flexible, and collaborative way. With compassion and understanding, I integrate techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client, providing support and practical feedback to effectively address personal life challenges.
I view clients as experts on their lives and work with individuals, couples, and families to build on their strengths and attain personal and relational growth.
In addition to being a relationship therapist, I have worked as an Adjunct Faculty at both the undergraduate and graduate level at multiple universities and in various therapy programs since 2006. I am a published scholar in the field of therapy and mental health, contributing book chapters and journal articles on sexual identity, positive psychology, children's issues, and narrative therapy. In addition, I have presented at several national and regional conferences on my research and topics related to children, parenting, and postmodern Feminist Therapy. I am a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
After enjoying the scenery and experiences up north, I have returned to San Antonio to continue my work as a therapist, with a passion for relationships and family connections. I am married and have two young children, and value the community of support we have around us. My hobbies include photography, painting and creating with my children, and intentionally appreciating nature-- all which serve to foster creativity and an appreciation for multiple perspectives and unique experiences, which I believe to be an asset in the therapy room.
I feel honored and passionate about my work as a therapist, and I am humbled at being a part of someone's journey to living and loving more deeply.
